MSG Michael A. Dotson Sr.
MSG Michael A. Dotson Sr. was born and reared in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 20 June 1972. Upon graduating from high school, MSG Dotson joined the United States Army in October of 1990 as a Combat Engineer and deployed in Operation Desert Storm earning recognition for his contributions as a Combat Engineer in a hostile environment.
MSG Dotson has held several positions as a combat engineer ranging from squad member to team leader for Charlie Company, 4th Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado in 1994; squad leader for 84th Engineer Company, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, Louisiana in 1996 and upon reassignment in 1997; MSG Dotson was assigned as a squad leader for Alpha Company, 326 Engineer Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
In September 1999, MSG Dotson joined the Army Reserve as a Personnel Administrative Service Sergeant and was assigned as the Personnel Service Non-Commissioned Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2145 Garrison Support Unit in Nashville, Tennessee.
In 2004, having been promoted to Sergeant First Class, MSG Dotson reclassified as an Armor/Cavalry Crewman and was assigned as a Tank Commander for Charlie Company, 3rd Squadron, 398th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 100th Division in Madisonville, Kentucky.
In 2005, after successfully completing the Drill Sergeant Course, MSG Dotson was mobilized and became a Senior Drill Instructor and in 2006 having successfully completed his tour as a drill instructor, MSG Dotson became the Senior Cavalry Scout Instructor for Fox Troop, 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 2009, as a direct result of the Base Realignment and Closure at Fort Knox, KY; MSG Dotson was reassigned to 11th Aviation Command, Fort Knox, KY as the G3/7 Non Commissioned Officer in Charge. In 2010, MSG Dotson successfully completed the Army Reserve Equal Opportunity Advisor Course at the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) at Patrick Air force Base, Florida and currently serves as the 11th Aviation Command Senior Equal Opportunity Advisor to the Commanding General.
MSG Dotson’s military education includes: Equal Opportunity Advisor Course, Equal Employment Opportunity Mediation Course, Advance Non Commissioned Officers Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course, Master Trainer Course, Instructor Training Course, Drill Sergeant Course, and Primary Leaders Development Course. MSG Dotson also holds a Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Training Management from the University of Louisville.
MSG Dotson’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the South West Asia Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and other ribbons and awards. MSG Dotson also earned the Air Assault Badge and as a Kentucky State Trooper, Trooper Dotson earned the Troopers Badge for exceptional service.
The Pennsylvania native has two daughters and two sons and is married to the wonderful Mrs. Melissa Dotson from Pembroke, New Hampshire.
