Senior Master Sergeant Steven C. George is the Command Fuels Operations Manager assigned to Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. He is 40 years old. Sergeant George was born in San Diego, California, on 26 September 1970 while his father was stationed there in the United States Navy. He attended Green Run and Great Bridge High Schools in Virginia where he grew up and graduated June 1989. While attending high school, Sergeant George enlisted in the United States Air Force under the Delayed Enlistment Program at age 18. After graduating from high school, he reported to Lackland AFB, Texas, in January 1990 for basic training. After completing basic training, Sergeant George reported to Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois for the Fuels Specialist Course. Upon graduation, he received his first of many assignments to Bitburg Air Base, West Germany, arriving in April 1990. Since then, Sergeant George has received assignments to North Carolina, Arkansas, Virginia, the United Kingdom, a second tour to Germany and three remote tours to South Korea. He has also deployed in support of Operations PROVIDE COMFORT, SOUTHERN WATCH, VIGILANT WARRIOR, JOINT ENDEAVOR, DECISIVE EDGE and ENDURING FREEDOM. Sergeant George has held many positions throughout his career covering the full spectrum of Fuels Management Flight operations, as well as temporary first sergeant, Quality Assurance Evaluator, and numbered air force and major command staff positions. His performance over his career has culminated in notable recognitions which include 8th Fighter Wing Junior Fuels Technician of the Year, 1999; 48th Fighter Wing Fuels Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, 2002; 7 AF Organizational Unit Fuels Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, 2003; 314th Airlift Wing Fuels Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, 2004; 435th Air Base Wing Volunteer of Quarter, 2nd Quarter, 2007; 3rd AF Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter, 2nd Quarter, 2008; Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter, 1st and 3rd Quarters of 2010, and most notably, he was the 2010 HQ Air Force Reserve Command SNCO of the Year and Air Force Reserve Command's Lance P. Sijan nominee. Sergeant George's military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters. In 2010, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Transportation and Logistics Management and graduated with honors from American Military University, Manassas, Virginia. Sergeant George is married to the former Ms. Melba Lucas of El Paso, Texas and has three daughters Autumn 3, Christina 13, Brentnie 21.
