Staff Sergeant John C. Norris

Staff Sergeant John C. Norris is currently serving as a Tactical Air Control Party member, 148th Air Support Operations Squadron, Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. Sergeant Norris was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sergeant Norris attended and graduated from Robert E. Fitch High of Groton, CT in 2002. He enlisted into Active Duty Air Force on October 22, 2002. After completing basic training and Tactical Air Command and Control Apprentice School, he was assigned to the 3d ASOS, 172nd Stryker Brigade at Fort Wainwright, AK from July 2003 through August 2006. While assigned to the 3d ASOS, SSgt Norris volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan in support of OEF for 7 months. Shortly after his return from Afghanistan, he deployed with the 172nd Stryker Brigade to Mosul, Iraq in support of OIF. From August 2006 to October 2008, he was assigned to the 15th ASOS, 3d ID Fort Stewart, GA, SSgt Norris distinguished himself while attending numerous schools and courses to include Army Air Assault School and Air Force Joint Terminal Attack Controller Qualifying Course. After completing the terms of his enlistment in October 2008, SSgt Norris enrolled full time at Central Connecticut State University in pursuit of a bachelors in business. SSgt Norris enlisted in the PAANG in March of 2009 and was assigned to the 148th ASOS, Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA. While there, SSgt Norris attended TACP 7 level school at Hulbert Field, FL. SSgt Norris just returned from being deployed to Jalalabad, Afghanistan in support of combat operations for nine months. His military awards include the Air Force Commendation with V device and Army Commendation Medal with 2 devices.
