Master Sergeant Michael M. Quitugua Jr. enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve on September 2000 as an Air Transportation Specialist. he completed Basic Military Training and Air Transportation Technical Training in March 2000 earning Distinguished Graduate honors. Upon his return to the 44th Aerial Port Squadron, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, he volunteered to augment the 36th Security Forces Squadron where he was assigned to the Visitor Control Center and Flight Operations and maintained entry control to Protection Level I, II, and III resources. On January 2005, he transferred to the 254th Security Force Squadron, Guam Air National Guard. he earned distinguished graduate honors from Security Forces Technical Training in October 2005 and upon his return, immediately volunteered for a Force Protection assignment at Osan AFB, Korea. While assigned to the 51st Security Forces Squadron Armory, he armed over 500 Air Force Personnel and maintained accountability of over 500,00 dollars worth of weapons and equipment during their 2005 Operational Readiness Inspection, which the base received an outstanding rating. MSgt Quitugua then assumed Force Protection Duties at Andersen AFB with the 36th Security Forces Squadron. He certified on Response Force leader and was the first member from the 254th Security Forces Squadron to Certify as a Security Controller in a span of 6 days. on February 2007, he certified as Flight Chief and was responsible for 33 active duty and reserve component personnel. On April 2008, MSgt Quitugua deployed and was assigned to the 36th Security Forces Squadron and serves as the NCOIC of Flight Operations. MSgt Quitugua has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Reserve Force Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
