Staff Sergeant Erin M.H. Ryan
Staff Sergeant Erin M.H. Ryan is assigned as the Voucher Examiner for the Financial Management Office, 101st Air Refueling Wing, Main Air National Guard, and Bangor, Maine. SSgt Ryan was born in Caribou, Maine on the 12th of August, 1986. Later her family moved to Bangor where she graduated from Bangor High School in 2004. SSgt Ryan was involved in many activities in High School, to include Varsity Cheerleading, Varsity Soccer, Track, Upward Bound Math/Science Camp, and Peer Counseling. After graduation, she continued her education at the University of Maine. There she served as Secretary of her dorm, Stoddard Hall, and as a Delta Zeta Sister. As Delta Zeta she held positions as the Recruiting Chair and the Vice President of Programming. During her sophomore year she decided that she wanted to do more for her community and enlisted in the Main Air National Guard. During her summer break in 2006 she went to Basic Military Training Although she lost her father that summer during week four, she returned to BMT after a week of emergency leave and completed the training as Honor Graduate. She continued to Tech School in the Services career field, and received Distinguished Graduate upon completion of the training. While enlisted as a Traditional Guard member, SSgt Ryan finished her education and graduated from the University of Maine in May 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. SSgt Ryan started as a Temporary Technician for the Services Apprentice/Cook to Stock Room Manager. In June of 2009 SSgt Ryan Accepted the position as Assistant NCOIC of the Maine State Honor Guard as Senior Airman. She attended the Patriot Honor Guard's Training Program at Hanscom Air Force Base. With the skills she learned there and from the guidance of her NCOIC and OIC, she helped reconstruct and rebuild the Maine State Honor Guard to bring it up to the Air Force Standards and Procedures. In September of 2009 she joined her town's Volunteer Fire Department as the Secretary and Treasurer. In January she attended Emergency Medical Services training at Easter Maine Community College where she received high marks. The following spring, SSgt Ryan received an Associates Degree from the Community College of the Air Force for Restaurant, Hotel, and Fitness Management. A month later SSgt Ryan accepted a position as a Permanent Technician in the 101st ARW's Financial Management Office and married her childhood sweetheart, SSgt James Ryan. SSgt Ryan continues to volunteer for the Maine State Honor Guard. In September of 2010 she stepped down from the Fire Department to pursue a Masters of Business Administration Degree at Husson University in Bangor, ME. SSgt Ryan resides in Stetson, ME close to her mother, step-father, and three brothers, with her husband and their four rescue animals. SSgt Ryan attends service regularly at Bangor Baptist Church and helps support their Christian abased radio station with monetary donations. SSgt Ryan's military Awards include: Air Force Training Ribbon, Basic Military Honor Graduate, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Outstanding Unit Award, Distinguished Graduate, Maine Academic Achievement Award, IG Award April 2009, Guard Member of the Month January 2010, Team of The Quarter Summer 2010, Maine Air National Guard Chief's Council Award 2010, and the IG Team Award for the Maine State Honor Guard September 2010. Recently she was coined by the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the Air National Guard.
