Sergeant Major Michael E. Biere

Sergeant Major Michael E. Biere assumed the position of Senior Enlisted Advisor (SEA) to the Reserve Forces Policy Board on 14 March, 2013. He previously served as Command Sergeant Major 7th Civil Support Command Kaiserslautern Germany; NATO Headquarters Sarajevo BiH; 8-229th Aviation Regiment (Attack) "Flying Tigers" Fort Knox, KY.

SGM Biere serves as the subject matter expert for personnel, mobilization and readiness issues impacting enlisted personnel from all seven reserve components. In this capacity he works and interacts with the senior military and civilian leadership throughout the Department of Defense. SGM Biere also acts as a liaison with senior NCO policy boards within the Joint Staff and Office of the Secretary of each of the uniformed services.

SGM Biere enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1989. After completing basic training at Fort Jackson, SC, he attended advanced individual training at Fort Devens, MA, as an Interceptor/Analyst, with extended training in space collection operations. In 1996 he attended reclassification training as a personnel sergeant at Fort Jackson, SC. In over 23 years of service SGM Biere has been assigned to Field Station Sinop, Turkey; the 82nd Airborne Division G-2, Fort Bragg, NC.; XVIII Airborne Corps G-2, Fort Bragg NC; 314th MI Battalion Detroit Michigan; 652nd Engineer Company Joliet, IL; U.S. Army Personnel Command Alexandria, VA; Department of the Army Staff, Office of the Chief Army Reserve; Reserve Forces Policy Board (2001), Office of the Secretary of Defense; U.S. Army Reserve Command G-1, Fort McPherson, GA; CONUS Replacement Center, Fort Benning, GA; NATO HQ Sarajevo BiH; 8-229th AVN, Fort Knox KY; 7th Civil Support Command, Kaiserslautern Germany.

SGM Biere’s military schools include National Defense University Keystone course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, U.S. Army First Sergeant Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, U.S. Army Airborne School, Space Collection Operations Course and many other functional courses.
